Ballarat Wine
Show 2006
Congratulations to all those who had success at the recent
Ballarat Wine Show (9/9/06).
There were in all,
one silver and seven bronze medals
awarded to Ballarat producers in this show. In addition, two
other wines picked up commendations (the equivalent point score
of a bronze medal for wines yet to be bottled). This illustrates
once again the high standard and consistency of wines being
produced in this region.
Congratulations in particular to
Wightwick wines, who on
entering their first show, scored a bronze medal with their 2005
Chardonnay. Their vineyard is featured in our section focusing
on local vineyards.
Congratulations also to
Clyde Park who picked up the Max Loder Trophy (presented by the Ballarat Vignerons) for
the best aggregate score for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in the
regional classes. This is a prestigious award and in the past
has been won by Bests and Seppelts both from Great Western, and
Tomboy Hill from Ballarat. This trophy honours the
contribution of Max Loder to both the local and Australian Wine
Industry. For further detail, please refer to our profile on
Max Loder.
The Ballarat Wine Show is organised each September by the
Ballarat Agricultural and Pastoral Society Inc (Phone: (03) 5338
